Middle Eastern music, or "belly dancing music" has become increasingly more popular and mainstream and is now one of the most sought after sources of entertainment. Belly dancers, who have always intrigued and fascinated audiences of all ages, have danced predominantly to music played by hand drums and percussion instruments.
Tom Mears, an experienced percussionist and drummer, has combined the old world hand-drumming techniques and sounds of percussion instruments to create an original, unique adaptation which he plays entirely on a drum set. "Dance of the Divine Serpentine" is a twelve minute drum set composition that features two or more belly dancers. Audiences, belly dancers and "would be" belly dancers have found this cutting edge music exciting and exhilarating.
