Tom Mears

As a multi-percussionist and drummer, Tom has found many opportunities to showcase his talents in virtually every type of music ranging from country to jazz to rock. When he began listening to the unique rhythms of Middle Eastern hand drums he became inspired to adapt those rhythms to a drum set. Due to the overwhelming enthusiasm for "Dance of the Divine Serpentine," Tom is now focusing his energy on original solo drum and percussion music for Middle Eastern dancing and enjoyment.

Tom's musical background includes studying with the principle percussionist of the Kalamazoo, Michigan Symphony Orchestra and playing with the Western Michigan University Concert Band, Symphony Orchestra, and Percussion Ensemble. As a music major at Western Michigan University, he composed several pieces for percussion and drum ensembles.
